With 20mm of rain falling in Pokolbin on the 27th and 28th October, we picked a good time to hold the Native Bush Tucker planting at Winehouse Hunter Valley in Pokolbin.
As always, a good turnout with many hands pitching in and plenty of smiling faces- partly due to the rain 🙂 Paul Melehan gave an entertaining talk about the edible plant parts, how to use them in the kitchen and tantalise your taste buds (or at least have a go).
Species planted include Doryanthes excelsa (Gymea Lily), Eupomatia laurina (Native guava), Podocarpus elatus (Illawarra plum), Syzygium australe (Brush cherry), Brachychiton populneus (Kurrajong), Austromyrtus dulcis (Midgen berry), Alpinia caerulea (Native ginger), Viola hederacea (Native violet), and more.
Stop by and see the progress of these plants in a beautiful bushland setting while you are visiting the wineries.
