Hunter Region Landcare Network (HRLN) and NSW National Parks and Wildlife Services (NPWS) are developing a program to engage volunteers as Citizen Scientists in Barrington Tops NP, to monitor the presence and control of Scotch Broom (Cytisus scoparius).
HRLN Project Officer, Gabrielle, spent 3 days in Barrington Tops with NPWS planning and devising a program to lead volunteers in monitoring the spread and control of Scotch Broom in special bioregions – especially post-fire areas and threatened ecological communities.
This program will be a great opportunity for young enviro students and experienced volunteers to probe deeper into conservation activities in Barrington, learn basic floristic surveying and monitoring techniques and gain technical experience.
