Hunter Region Landcare

Abermain District Landcare

30 Years of Landcare Book

Reformation 2018 – Present

The group reformed in 2018 after a break of several years, in response to issues of flooding and degradation of Swamp Creek, Abermain.

Working on  the banks of Swamp Creek, we have focused on the rehabilitation of waterways and surrounding vegetation and the improvement of local biodiversity, as well as reducing soil loss through erosion.

We have undertaken group workshop activities to train community members on weed identification and eradication, and native plant identification.

Some of the benefits of being involved in Landcare have been developing a sense of community within Abermain, gaining organisational skills and knowledge of local flora, and weed identification and removal.
