Bird Species Feature: Spotted Pardalote

Fauna, The Scoop

Everyone loves a Spotted Pardalote!

This tiny bird of 10cm long is distinguished by its white spots, mostly found fluttering around in eucalypt forests and woodlands but occurs in parks and gardens with well-established eucalypt canopy. I have also seen them feeding on invertebrates at my window sill. Can you believe they often nest in a burrow in the side of a river bank. Their breeding season is from June to January each year with both male and female sharing the parenting role.
