Expressions of Interest for the 2023-24 Newcastle Volunteer Grants program are now open from Sharon Claydon MP.
The Volunteer Grants program offers grants of between $1,000 and $5,000 to support, encourage and increase participation in volunteering in local communities. These grants help community organisations support their volunteers by making their volunteering work easier, safer and more enjoyable.
This funding may be used to:
- Purchase eligible small equipment items for the direct use by volunteers;
- Contribute to volunteers’ fuel costs;
- Contribute to transport costs for volunteers with disability who are unable to drive;
- Assist with the costs of training courses for volunteers;
- Undertake background screening checks for volunteers;
- Conduct activities to promote awareness of, and increase participating in volunteering opportunities; and
- Adapting practices to support volunteers’ safety in the current pandemic environment.
To be eligible you must:
- be a legal entity, or if an Unincorporated Association, supply details of an individual associated within the organisation who has agreed to enter into an agreement (taking on personal legal liability for the grant) on behalf of the organisation should the application be successful (refer to section 4.1 of the Guidelines);
- be an Australian not-for-profit organisation;
- utilise volunteers, with volunteers making up at least 40 per cent of the organisation’s staff;
- have an ABN (or provide a Statement by Supplier Form); and
- have an account with an Australian financial institution in the name of the organisation applying.
Accordingly, Expressions of Interest (EOI) are now open and will close at Midnight on Sunday, 28 September 2023.
