Do you manage native vegetation on your farm? Do you love your local birds?
Woodland Bird ID Workshop, Wednesday 6 November, Abermain and Werakata (8:30-midday)
Habitat in the Cessnock area contains one of four key breeding areas for the critically endangered Regent Honeyeater.
It’s also home to other endangered woodland birds, including Swift Parrot, Black-chinned Honeyeater, Barking Owl, Grey crowned Babbler and other iconic woodland birds such as Red-capped robin( our little ‘Fence-Mate’) and Cuckoo Shrike.
We are partnering with BirdLife Australia to host a woodland bird identification workshop:
-Get to know some of the iconic and endangered woodland birds in your area
-Find out what threats face our woodland birds, and how you can help
-Find out why the Cessnock area is so important
-Learn some expert bird watching tips
-Become a citizen scientist and monitor birds on your farm using the Birdata App
-Find out how LLS can help you restore and protect important habitat on your property, and why birds are so important in the landscape.
Bring your binoculars, bring a friend, and come along for the birds.
We will run more events like this into the upper Hunter and wider Cessnock areas over the next 4 years, so keep-watch on our web page (events) or Facebook page!
This project is supported by Hunter LLS, through funding from the Australian Government’s National Landcare Program.
