National NAIDOC Week Events throughout the Hunter Region

NAIDOC Week celebrates the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and this year it will be held from 2-9 July 2023.
This year, the theme of NAIDOC week is For Our Elders.
It’s an opportunity for all Australians to learn about First Nations cultures and histories and participate in celebrations of the oldest, continuous living cultures on earth.
There’s a wide range of Indigenous-centred events around the Hunter Region to celebrate, such as Art Making in Lake Macquarie, Coolamon Making, Dance and Guided Tours at the Hunter Region Botanic Gardens and a Free Film Screening of ‘Teach a Man to Fish’ in Cessnock.
