Rising from the Embers Festival 2024 Recap

The Scoop

Rising from the Embers Festival

It was fantastic to be part of this year’s Rising from the Embers Festival under clear skies and tall trees at Callaghan Campus, University of Newcastle.  Many good conversations were shared with visiting students and fellow stall-holders.  We had a lot of interest in koalas, volunteering and collaboration with Landcare.  This event is held annually on Awabakal Country in celebration of National Reconciliation Week.  It’s a partnership between the University of Newcastle and the Wollotuka Institute with sponsorship from Hunter Local Land Services.  This year’s event was a fantastic celebration of culture, community and best practice around land and water management for sustainability.  Thank you to our volunteers Wendy, Carmel and Balaji who helped run the stall and represent Hunter Region Landcare Network.
