Putty 3 Valleys Group Needs Support

The Scoop

The weather was fine for the annual Putty Spring Fair held on Sunday 6th October. Residents and visitors to the area gathered at the Putty Hall to celebrate the Putty Valley’s people and place. Woodcutters provided entertainment with post cutting and splitting, whilst the RFS, local arts and crafts groups held stalls alongside raffles and pony rides. Marquees served a variety of delicious foods.

Hunter Region Landcare Network were there supporting the local Putty 3 Valleys Landcare group which covers Putty, Garlands and Howes Valley. The group has been going for 25 years doing sterling work in maintaining and enhancing properties by connecting landholders to educational and grant funding opportunities. Since the late 90’s the group have undertaken riparian rehabilitation, revegetation, weed control and hosted a broad range of workshops.  This is one of the longest running Landcare groups in the region but the group will have to fold if it cannot find more members.
