Meet the Hunter’s newest Landcare group

Landcare Groups, Latest Newsletter, The Scoop

The Fletcher and Maryland wetlands margins are getting some serious tlc from this dynamic new group of Landcarers.  Zoe, Bill, Wendy and Ing have kick-started the working bees this week by tracking through the bioswale and chasing down Tobacco Bush, Chinese Elms, Lantana, Crofton Weed, Small-leaved Privet, Creeping Ruellia (groundcover with purple flowers), Fishbone Fern, Umbrella Tree and Green Cestrum.

After huddling under the shelter with a bit of cake and a coffee, it was good to have a chat as the rain came in.  Thanks so much for your time and efforts in caring for ecologically important land neighbouring the internationally significant Hunter Wetlands.

The group meets fortnightly on Thursdays 8-10.30am followed by morning tea. Contact co-ordinator Lauren Bullard: lauren.bullard@lls.nsw.gov.au

Our next working bee is on Thursday 2nd April, Callan Avenue, Fletcher, Newcastle.
