đ2025 Landcare Muster – Wild about Weeds!
The biennial Hunter Landcare Muster welcomed over 100 people to the beautiful bush setting of Earthcare Park in Tenambit on 13th September, where we celebrated the 30th anniversary of the Park and the achievements of Landcare, with a focus on getting wild about weeds. Uncle James from Wanaruah Country, welcomed us to Country through his story-telling of caring for the land.

The wealth of knowledge and information was shared amongst our Landcarers through workshops, soap box talks and field trips. Landcare groups provided insights into their activities, challenges and achievements through a series of soapbox talks. Workshops that had been requested by Landcarers on a range of themes were offered by guest presenters.

Aunty Lynelleâs weaving workshop provided a yarning circle where we could share our stories while learning to weave natural fibre bangles under the shade of the Eucalypts.

This yearâs Muster theme âWild about Weedsâ provided a number of informative workshops including Matt Kennedy from Local Land Services highlighting the issues around weeds and biosecurity and Terry Inksonâs workshop focusing on his recently updated Garden Escapees book. Feedback on the special Muster edition of the book is welcome until 31st October (contact Terry: terry.inkson@cessnock.nsw.gov.au).

The afternoon included a number of excursions including a tour of one of the Rainforest Revival Project sites at Oakhampton with Stacy and an onsite tour of the Turtle Island Project. Attendees enjoyed strolling through Earthcare Park and wetlands where we could see the amazing achievements of this Landcare group over the past 30 years.

The fabulous day was achievable through the support of the NSW Landcare Enabling Program and Hunter Local Land Services Strategic Weeds Program.
đThank you to all the volunteers across the network who contributed to the day.
Feedback forms have been sent out. We will review these for planning future regional events to support the needs of Landcarers across the Hunter.
