Have you visited Arcadia Park recently? This beautiful reserve in the heart of Newcastle offers a serene escape, perfect for a hot summer’s day. Wander through bushland trails shaded by native trees, discover grassy picnic spots, and immerse yourself in the tranquillity of this urban oasis.
On 24th November, Bob from the Arcadia Park/Obelisk Landcare Group guided local nature journalists on an informative walking tour of the park. Attendees learned about the incredible transformation of a once-weedy hillside into a thriving littoral rainforest, now home to diverse plants and birdlife. Bob shared insights into the ecological importance of the park and its journey to becoming a lush native sanctuary.
Arcadia Park is not just a haven for wildlife but also a hub of community activity. The Arcadia Park/Obelisk Landcare Group meets every Friday for hands-on conservation work, including weeding, mulching, and planting. Volunteers are welcomed with tea and scones, making it a rewarding and enjoyable way to contribute to the park’s upkeep.
